AEROSYS -1.5 Ton - LX Series Condenser 36H x 19W TTWC-R18P21LX
Discontinued. This unit is no longer manufactured.
Replaced by our 36" W x 19" H 1.5 Ton R-454B thru-wall condenser.
Aerosys has permanently closed and this unit is discontinued. The TTWC-R18P21LX is no longer manufactured, and no manufacturer builds a replacement for the 36" x 19" P Series opening. We have ours custom fabricated to fit the same sleeve, charged with R-454B instead of the phased-out R-410A. Lead time is 14 to 21 days, built to order. See the Aerosys replacement cross-reference for the full model-by-model list.
About this unit (for identification)
If you're replacing a through-wall unit in a NYC co-op bedroom or studio apartment, the Aerosys TTWC-R18P21LX is the LX Series condenser you want on your short list. At 1.5 tons (18,000 BTU), it handles rooms up to about 700 square feet -- the sweet spot for most Manhattan and Brooklyn bedrooms, home offices, and smaller living rooms. It drops right into your existing 36" W x 19" H wall sleeve with zero modification, which means no DOB filings and no angry co-op boards.
This is a split system condenser, so you'll need a compatible indoor air handler on the other side of the wall to complete the installation. That's actually the whole point -- unlike a packaged PTAC that shoves everything into one noisy box, the Aerosys split design keeps the compressor outside where it belongs. The result is a noticeably quieter apartment. If you're not sure whether a split system or PTAC replacement makes more sense for your situation, we break it down in our PTAC vs. through-wall guide.
So why the LX over the standard Aerosys TTWC? The LX Series uses commercial-grade internal components -- heavier-duty contactors, upgraded fan motors, and more robust condenser coils. In a building where the unit runs hard from May through September (and sometimes into October, because New York), that translates to a longer service life and fewer emergency calls to your HVAC contractor. The price difference between the LX and standard 1.5-ton model is modest, and most building managers we work with consider it worth the upgrade for units in high-use apartments.
Specs that matter for your electrician: 208-230V/60Hz/1Ph, MCA 13, MOP 20. Runs on R-410A refrigerant with 3/8" x 3/4" sweat connections. Shipping weight is 185 lbs, dimensions are 19" H x 36" W x 18.5" D. Made in the USA. Not sure what tonnage you need? Our through-wall sizing guide walks you through it based on your actual room dimensions and sun exposure.
